Overview
Amboseli National Park is a renowned wildlife reserve situated in Kajiado County, southern Kenya, approximately a 4-hour, 240 km drive from Nairobi. It spans approximately 392 km² and is situated at the foot of Tanzania’s Mount Kilimanjaro. Established in 1974 and designated a UNESCO biosphere reserve in 1991, it’s famously known as the “Land of Giants,” home to large herds of African elephants. The park offers exceptional opportunities to see the Big Five (sans rhino), vast wetlands fed by Kilimanjaro’s meltwater, and stunning vistas shaped by five distinct habitats: dry lake bed, swamps, savanna, acacia woodland, and rocky outcrops.
